The incident is mentioned in John 19:34, no name was given the soldier, yet most the usual roman guards were common centurions, similar to a street cop today except he worked for the government/army. The fact that water and blood both exited the wound is a prime example of the fluid which had collected around the heart due to the constriction of the diaphragm and respiratory system from the body weight pulling down from the suspended arms.Today we would classify it under congestive heart failure on its own, yet the spear burst the heart which is a stabbing. good question
