Imagine your thanksgiving prayers reaching the very throne-room of God! The bible tells us that they really do, if done in the right way! I want you to think about the things you enjoy. Every time you sit down to enjoy a meal, enjoy time with family you rarely see, or even watch a football game while saying to yourself "I won't eat for another year", remember this: you are in a grace atmosphere. Because of our sin, every single breath you take comes from God's grace towards you, even though you deserve an immediate eternal punishment. Many folks can't stand to hear stuff like this, but it's this truth that will make you want to praise him for undeserved things like a thanksgiving day dinner.

Is Thanksgiving Day In The Bible?
 As many know, thanksgiving day an event we celebration in remembrance of the pilgrims landing in America and throwing a huge feast with the native Americans in the 1500's. My biblical knowledge of this event is limited, but I don't believe there were any prophecies foretelling this historic event. In a modern era, friends and family get together and eat a really big dinner (and in my case, it usually gets cold by the time it finds my plate). But there definitely is some biblical knowledge that must be applied to such an event, which is covered below.

A Grace Atmosphere
I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the concept of grace. I'm not talking about the "grace" you say before you eat. I'm talking about God's grace towards us.  We don't deserve to be called "His". As a matter of fact, we are not even worthy of being anything more than another damned soul sent to the lake of fire to bring glory to God almighty, whom our sin has offended. We were given a gift we are not worthy of: eternal life. So the meal you are about to eat, remember, if not for God's grace and patience with you, you can only try to imagine where you deserve to be at that very second. He deserves praise from you for that.An opportunity to share the gospelIf you have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, the bible wants you to know that there are VERY FEW Christians like yourself amongst the large crowd of people claiming to be christian. There is a very great chance that these people are mixed right in with your own family, trying to blend in with a great set of christian morals. TELL THEM ABOUT JESUS!!!! Many know that Jesus died on the cross, and think themselves saved because of this. NO! If you are saved, your saved because Jesus Christ paid the penalty for your sins while he died on the cross. Make sure everyone at the dinner table knows and understands this!

What Should I Say?
Dear God,As often as we sometimes overlook your grace, the meal you have provided for us is a truly undeserved blessing. God, you owe us nothing, and even in sin, your grace abounds. You've brought us all here together, and we would like to focus this meal on you, and glorifying your name. If there is anyone sitting here at this table that has not entered into a trust relationship with Jesus Christ, please open up their hearts and their minds to the truth. You are truly an awesome God, one that cares for his creation. Thank you for the meal you've placed before us. And one more thing: please pour out your blessings on Mike's website jesus-christ-channel.com =) In Jesus' name, Amen These types of thanksgiving prayers will glorify God.
