Preparing YOUR Personal Testimony

by Don Hite

Here's some tips for preparing your personal testimony.

A personal Testimony allows you to show your love for your Lord and personal savior Jesus Christ. Every Christian should be able to give their personal testimony when asked to do so.

Some Christians, however, have problems knowing where to start and how to begin.

When preparing your personal testimony, it does not have to be a lengthy dissertation on how or why you were saved, but can be brief and should be to the point.

A Two Minute Testimony (TMT) is sufficient in most cases. (depending on your audience)

To begin your TMT, you should first pray and ask for wisdom and guidance in preparing it. Then you should write out your testimony and then add or remove from it as the spirit of God moves you to do so.

Most testimonies follow the guidelines below which are offered here merely as a guide for you:

How did you come to the realization that you needed Jesus Christ as your Savior?

What was your personal life like before Jesus Christ was your Savior?

How did you come to accept him and let him control your life?

What happened to you personally after you had Jesus Christ in your life?

How has your personal life changed since you invited Jesus Christ into your life?

What are some things Jesus Christ has done lately for you in your personal life?

What are some things Jesus Christ has done recently for you in your personal life?

With these guidelines you can begin writing your personal testimony today so that you can let others know that Jesus Christ is your personal Lord and Savior:

1 Peter 3:15 - NIV

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
