Nazareth -

When Jesus traveled back to his homeland, Nazareth, he was asked to read scripture in the temple. This is when he claimed to be a fulfillment of the coming Messiah, and was rejected and almost killed. He was rejected because all the people that knew him his whole life remembered him as a local townsman, not as the Son of God. (Luke 4:28)
