Jesus Resurrection

Passing the Ultimate Test

The story of Jesus resurrection was the ultimate proof to his followers that he was the Messiah, the Son of Man.

He told many of his followers that 3 days after his death he would rise again, but during the emotional time following his death, the prediction of Jesus resurrection was forgotten. All of his followers were in such a deep state of grief, it seems that they forgot exactly who they were grieving. This was the man that performed a countless number of miracles; controlling sickness, death, weather, defying the laws of physics, and more. The resurrection of Jesus showed his followers that he will never die, and is the complete expression of life.

Jesus Resurrection
His Burial

Jesus was handed over to the Romans as he predicted to his 12 apostles. Although he was found innocent twice by two different rulers, He was ultimately put to death by Pilate due to an almost uncontrollable, blood-thirsty crowd.

After his death, a man named Joseph (not to be confused with his father) asked for the body of Jesus to provide a proper burial. Pilate gave him permission and Joseph and a few other men headed out for the tomb. They wrapped linin around his body and placed him in the tomb. To help prevent thieves from breaking into the tomb, they rolled a heavy boulder over the entrance. As the men were leaving, they saw a group of women who had followed them to the tomb. They were followers of Jesus and had come to the tomb to help bring closure to their grieving. At this point, their knowledge of the location of the tomb was confirmed. The women left to go prepare spices for his body, a tradition followed up on the 3rd day after death. But they had no idea Jesus resurrection would occur on the day they returned, just as he had told them before his death.

Jesus Resurrection
Overcoming Death

The group of women prepared spices for the body and returned 3 days later. They knew they would have trouble moving the heavy boulder, but they went anyway. But when they arrived at Jesus tomb, they were surprised at what they saw. The boulder was moved, and when they went inside, the body of Jesus was gone! The only thing in the tomb were his linins.

Then the the women were visited by 2 angels. "Why do you look for the living among the dead?" They told the women that Jesus was resurrected from the dead. Then they remembered what Jesus had told them about his resurrection. They rushed back to tell everyone else the great news! Shortly after the women returned, Jesus appeared in the flesh and bone. Everyone was in complete shock! He was not a ghost, but a man, and He ate with his remaining 11 disciples. Jesus told them to preach to all nations, starting in Jerusalem. He then appeared to many others and continued his teaching about God's Kingdom. Then, 40 days after his resurrection, he led his followers to the Mount of Olives, near Bethany. This is the place he will return when we witness his 2nd Coming. "I will never leave you, I will be with you always. Even until the end of the world". He said goodbye to his followers and ascended into heaven.
