Healing Anger With God

Healing anger with God is very important. Your anger puts up a wall between you and God, and only you can take that wall down. I don't know why your angry with God. Maybe it's the death of someone close to you, maybe it's finances or popularity. Either way, I want to help you understand how important it is to take down the "anger wall" and choose faith. I will use the story of a biblical man named Job to outline it's importance.

Healing Anger With God
Who Was Job?

The story of Job is found in the Old Testament. Job was a man with a mountain of faith. He was one of the wealthiest men in the middle east, with thousands of cattle, and 10 children. He really was blessed by God for all that he had.

Satan approached God and tried to make a deal with him. Satan believed that he could get Job to denounce God if he suffered enough. God told Satan he could destroy all that he had been blessed with, but could not lay a hand on him.

All of Job's cattle, servants, and family died. Job could not understand why God would allow such incredible suffering, but maintained his faith. Then Satan asked God if he could push him a little further. This time, Job's body took the toll.

After all was said and done, Job never lost faith in God, but demanded explanation for his suffering.

Should I Question God?

God appeared to Job in the manifestation of a whirlwind (personally, I think God makes great entrances). What he said next to Job even dropped my jaw as I read it.

He basically told Job "You are a human with limited understanding. You will never fully understand. Can you send out lightning bolts, and they go? Do they report back to you 'here we are'? Can you fasten the chains of Pleiades, or loosen the belt of Orion? Where were you when I made the earth? Have you ever in your life commanded the morning or assigned dawn it's place?"

This goes on for several chapters. God clearly established that he was in charge and only He knows. When Job realized his mistake of questioning Him, he quickly realized the need to begin healing anger with God.

He asked for forgiveness, saying that he could never answer God's questions and his hand was now over his mouth. Job realized very quickly that he did not have the "big picture".

His understanding was sooo small that he just had to remain faithful to the one that understands all.

How Can I Heal My Anger?

I have a really cool bible. It's called The Holman Student Bible. I read a student bible for 2 reasons. I'm still learning about God and it helps a lot and I will spend the rest of my life learning about God, studying like a student.

Anyway, there's a quote by C. S. Lewis near the back of the story. It says "When you are arguing against Him, you are arguing against the very power that makes you able to argue at all". I really want to drive home the point that this anger must be healed.

Pray. Talk with God about why you question him. Be careful not to judge whether or not he hears you by how you feel. Have faith that he really does hear every word.

When Job realized he didn't have the big picture, he was astounded by how insignificant he was.

Tell God that you realize how small you are and that you feel valued to have a relationship with Him. That you want that relationship to be as strong as possible, completely void of anger.

Healing anger with God can be done with the help of God if you ask him to teach and discipline you. Just start talking to him and work on your relationship.
