Graduation Prayers

Your graduation prayers can be said out loud, or they can be said in secrecy. First off, I would like to congratulate you on graduating! Good work! Through the grace of God, he has allowed you to come this far. But now that you have hit this great milestone in your life, I want you to judge your motives. Some of the things I say might offend you if you are not truly saved. If you are not saved, I strongly encourage you to enter into a trust relationship with Jesus Christ.

What are your motives? Before you say your graduation prayers, I want you to ask yourself one question. What is the goal of your life? Is it to become successful? To work in a field you enjoy? While all of these things are great goals to have, if your main goal is not to conform yourself to the image of Christ, the bible wants you to know that you should be terrified. Jesus said "but only he who does the will of my father who is in heaven will enter in."

Forget about how much money you will make or how much you will enjoy your new job. All the things in this world are passing away, and if you don't keep your eye focused on doing the will of God, your in a great deal of trouble. So before praying your graduation prayers, think about your motives and be honest with yourself.

Graduation Prayers
Outloud or in Secracy?

You can choose to say this prayer out loud in front of you class or you can say it in privacy. If possible, the out loud approach is recommended by me because it will introduce the gospel to some who may not be aware of what Jesus did.

Dear God,

You've brought me here tonight to accept something that I've worked very hard to achieve. I've sacrificed a lot to get where I'm at so far, and I know your strong hand will place me where you want me to be. God, although I feel that my hard work and focus have paid off, there's a smile on my face for a different reason. Your son Jesus was the master at hard work, focus, wisdom and ultimately sacrifice. I know that resting upon his finished work, when he paid the penalty for my sins on the cross, I can have a relationship with you. And even if all my plans become a shattered trail somewhere along the path of life, I know I have you, the only thing that really matters. Thank you for helping me graduate...

In Jesus' name, Amen

Now that you've said your graduation prayers, remember to even thank God for the small things that are a reality in your life. It's something I must work on myself, but try to stay in constant communication with God, even praising him when things get rough. Don't "Put God in the closet and pull him out when you need him." Please pray for me that I will improve in this area of my life too!
