Don Hite's articles of biblical insight
About Me: (scroll down for articles) When I started grade school my family lived in a rented house two blocks away from the Catholic Church and school which we attended. We had to attend Mass each school day morning before walking across the street to school. Our family went to church on Sunday morning, as well as Wednesday Saturday and often Sunday nights. That's a lotta church! I became an altar boy after my catechism and I was working to get my Eagle Scout badge along with my kid brother and I was a “Good Boy” to the joy of my mother and father. In time we moved to the country and had to attend public school and I discovered alcohol and then drugs. I was arrested for drugs the summer I turned 15 and by the time I was old enough to drive I was using drugs on a regular basis and I was becoming an alcoholic. The summer I turned 17 my father had enough and he showed me to the door and I found myself homeless and living on the streets for a time. I have read the bible from cover to cover many times in my life after I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and savior when I was 13. I thought I knew the bible pretty well and for the middle 15 years or so of my life I never picked up a bible again. I knew what was in it and I just didn’t need it any more. As a young adult I started to backslide and began to forsake the God that had loved and cared for me for so many years. Each day I was backsliding and drifting farter and farter away from Jesus and I tried to hide from God until I forgot about my Lord and my savior. But in time God said... "That’s enough Don. You need to come home." My blessings seemed to all but vanish at that time in my life until I met the other true love of my life. Just as God gave Eve to Adam God put my precious wife Ginny in my path in January of 1990 as both of us were going through divorces. We were married on October 12th 1990 but we were divorced early the next year. By the grace of God I soon realized that I turned my back on the only two that really and truly knew me and loved me and Ginny and I were remarried on June 17th 1991 and Ginny and I were both re-baptized together as Southern Baptist to rededicate our lives to God as a married couple. Our children soon followed and were both baptized in the mid 1990’s and we were a God fearing family. Malachi 3:7 says: "Return to me, and I will return to you." I returned to God and God returned to me and my blessings have been poured into my lap in a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. My faith is stronger and my life has changed for the better since I turned from my sins. God forgave me because I asked him to and I also asked him to come back into my life and take control of it. I gave God the reigns and I will honor, glorify and praise him for turning me around and putting my feet back on the righteous path so I may enter through the narrow gate. I was sprinkled as an infant and received the free gift of salvation at 13. I was born again and re-dedicated my life to God with my wife more than 15 years ago. I was chosen and sealed by God and redeemed by Jesus Christ. Today I am proud to say I am a Christ follower and a child of God and I love my personal Lord and Savior and my God. When the Holy Spirit came into my life and I was a new creation. I was not perfect. But I find comfort in knowing that only one man of flesh and blood was perfect and he was the sacrificial Lamb of God and the light of the world and I have been washed clean in the blood of the lamb who died a criminal’s death. In the final judgment when I appear before God I want to hear the Lord say to me "Well done, good and faithful servant"' and not hear the words “I never knew you. Away from me” knowing that the choice is mine while I am still among the living. That's the reason for the hope that is in me
