Christmas Prayers That Honor God

Your Christmas prayers mean a lot to God, as prayer usually does! But this celebration is one that, if a true christian doesn't understand what their praying for, will likely offend God! VERY few Americans skip over the christian celebration. But only a select few understand that it IS a christian holiday. Almost everybody knows Jesus was born in Bethlehem. But only a select few understand why, and understand it is the very core of the celebration. If you claim to be a born again christian, it is necessary for your own salvation that you understand what your praying for!

Christmas Prayers That Honor God
What am I Really Celebrating?

Your Christmas prayers are said because of a very big event that happened about 2,000 years ago. Let me get straight down to the point. God himself became a man, and was born in a small town called Bethlehem. When we celebrate the christian holiday, what we are really celebrating is the birth of Jesus Christ. I can't even emphasize how many Americans just "leave that part out", ignoring the very cor of the holiday.

How do you think Jesus feels? How would you feel if I gave presents to all your friends because I knew it was your birthday?

If you are someone that celebrates the holiday without even acknowledging Jesus Christ, it's time for you to either stop celebrating or start exploring what he's already done for you!

Christmas Prayers That Honor God
(Man centered) or (God centered)?

Man Centered View"The Christmas Holiday was started by some guy named Jesus a long time ago. He must've had some message about love and peace or something, because now we give presents to others. The kids absolutely love Santa! He must have taught people not to be self-centered and start thinking about others. Thanks to him, we have a huge celebration every year that makes people to give more than receive, which is a great set of morals. Good Job Jesus!" - The "lost" man.

God Centered View "Jesus was God in the flesh, and his birth fulfilled bible prophecy. He came into this world to die on the cross, paying the penalty for our sins. Because my default destination, without him in my life, is hell, I choose to focus the whole celebration on him, because he is the very core of it. During his life here on earth, he taught what most believe to be a great set of morals, but anything other that the morals he laid out for us is sin, leading to eternal torment. I owe you my life Jesus!" - The "saved" man.

What Do I Say?

Dear God,

We understand the the very CORE of this celebration is the birth of Jesus Christ, the one whom you sent to save such a depraved people like us. God, there are people out there in the world much like us, celebrating the same holiday as us, but one that is focused on their own agenda. They don't know you Lord, and we pray that someday you will open up their hearts, and open up their minds to the truth they don't know their missing. Thank you for your son Jesus and his finished work we rest upon, and allow us this day to focus on him, his sacrifice to mankind, and your glory!

In Jesus' name, Amen.

If done honestly in this way, your Christmas prayers will bring honor and glory to God. I wish you a very merry Christmas, one that will be filled with the holy spirit!
