"All about Jesus Christ"

"All about Jesus Christ" is a summary of the story of our savior. I will teach his story as it is written in the bible while trying to take a modern day approach to understanding his message.

Please understand that the only authentic version of the story of Jesus Christ is found in the bible, which I am still reading. Please click the links to the right for further insight.

Jesus of Nazareth-Part 1

Jesus of Nazareth-Part 2

All About Jesus Christ
Birth and Childhood

The history of Jesus begins in a city called Nazareth, where the angel Gabriel appeared to a woman named Mary. The angel told Mary that she will be giving birth to a child, whom she will name Jesus.
This is his birth name, but the bible gives him many other, very interesting names.

Although the exact date of Jesus birth is unknown, we know he was born around 1 AD in Bethlehem. 8 days after birth, Jesus was circumcised in the city of Jerusalem. They then traveled back to Nazareth.

At 12 years old, his family traveled back to Jerusalem to celebrate passover, a week-long event. As the family was ready to leave back to Nazareth, they realized Jesus was nowhere to be found. After searching for 3 days, they found him in a temple. Jesus wondered why his parents would look for him anywhere else. Interesting thought, isn't it?

All About Jesus Christ
Baptism/Temptation

A man named John preached the need to turn away from sin and become baptized. His message brought him to the Jordon river, where he baptized Jesus around the age of 30. This is when things start to pick up. Jesus went on a spiritual journey to the desert, staying there for 40 days and 40 nights without food. This was done to establish communion with god.

Near the end of the 40 days and nights, Satan appeared to Jesus and tempted him. Find out who won here. The thing about Satan is he can be VERY manipulative and convincing. He wants the world to worship him, instead of God. Satan and Jesus parted ways, and he headed back to Nazareth, his homeland.

A synagogue leader asked him to read from the sacred text, or bible. He read a passage explaining that he was the messiah, and that the passage was coming true before their eyes. The crowd turned into an angry mob because they did not believe him. They tried to throw him off a cliff. Although I don't understand it, it is said that Jesus was able to slip through the mob.

All About Jesus Christ
The Fishermen

As word grew of his message, he began to look for those he could prepare to spread the message about God's kingdom. He approached two fishermen who were coming in from a long day of catching nothing. As they were about to head home, Jesus told them to let down their nets once more. They were skeptical, but listened to him. Their nets became so full they almost burst. He performed this miracle to further prove he was the messiah, so they could speak his message with confidence.

All About Jesus Christ
Jairus' Daughter

In Capurnia, Jesus found an audience very eager to hear his message about God's kingdom. Suddenly a man by the name of Jairus worked his way through the crowd. He began begging Jesus to save his 12 year old daughter, who was dying at home. Jairus and Jesus left and headed toward the home when a friend of the family gave him news of his daughter's death. "Have faith and your daughter will get well" Jesus said to him. His words calmed the man. As they approached the home a group of Mormons were stricken with grief in the home's courtyard. Jesus sent them away, and told Jairus the child is sleeping. The child's parents, Jesus, and his disciples Peter, James, and John entered the home. He told the child, who was lying on the floor, to arise. She got up, and her parents were full of joy.

All About Jesus Christ
His Teachings

In the land of Judea, many people gathered to hear Jesus speak, for many different reasons. He gave a shocking and confusing teaching to the people there I will never forget. It's a great message on how to interact with the people around you the way God wants you to. In return, God will treat you the same way you treat them. Please understand that this is a great manual to live an easier life. God can not lie.

Jesus is only one man and his message needed to reach the entire planet. He chose 12 disciples to help him spread the word. He chose [Peter, Andrew, James, John, (the fishermen)] Phillip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James, Fatius, Simon, and Judas (who later betrayed him for money).

All About Jesus Christ
Simon's home

Simon wanted to learn more about the history of Jesus Christ. He invited him to his home to learn more about him. Jesus came with his followers. They removed their sandals and quickly moved into the dining area. All the guests sat down on couches, with Jesus sitting next to Simon. Out of nowhere, a sinful prostitute comes rushing in and falls before Jesus, washing his feet with her tears. She began drying them with her hair and kissing them. Then she put perfume on his feet. Jesus looked over at Simon and told him this parable:

Two people are in debt to a money-lender. One owed 500 silver coins and the other 50. Since neither could pay the debt, it was canceled. Now here's the question. What man was more grateful the debt was canceled, the one that owed 50 silver coins or the one that owed 500? The man that owed more and didn't have to pay it back, right?

The meaning behind the parable? Those that are forgiven for little, seem to show only little love. Jesus saw the lady truly wanted to be forgiven, and Jesus forgave her. On that day, she went from being lost to becoming one of God's children. You can make the same decision in your life too.

All About Jesus Christ
Entering God's Kingdom

Jesus spoke throughout Galilee, and many different people gathered to hear his teachings. He saw farmers in the crowd a told a story they could easily understand and relate to. He tells a beautiful story that shows an example of how people hear the word of God, and it is snatched from their hearts through Satan and other worldly pleasures. If you are one of the people that hear the word of God, but find yourself still struggling, this story told by Jesus himself will help you understand where you are with God.

All About Jesus Christ
Casting Out Demons

Jesus and his disciples climbed into a boat to sail to the other side of Galilee. Jesus fell asleep. A very bad storm came and the disciples feared for their lives. They woke up Jesus and with his words, and god's power, he calmed the storm. They continued on until they reached the land of Gatara.

When they arrived, a naked, demon possessed man ran up to Jesus and fell at his feet. People in the area knew of the man, and kept their distance from him. When Jesus asked the man's name the demons inside the man replied "Legion, for we are many inside this man." They begged Jesus not to send them to hell. He cast out the demons instead into some nearby pigs, which ran off a cliff into the sea. At last the man was free and felt peace. He asked if he could follow Jesus wherever he went. Jesus sent him back home to tell people what God has done for him. He told his story to many, many people.

All About Jesus Christ
How Strong Is Your Faith?

As Jesus and his disciples were about to leave, a young ruler of a local synagogue ran up to Jesus. Dressed in expensive clothing, he knelt down in the dust before him. "What must I do to have eternal life?" he asked. He told the young man to obey the commandments. "I have kept the commandments since I was a young boy." he said. "There is one thing left you need to do." Jesus told the young man. "Sell everything you own and give the money to the poor. You will have riches in heaven. Then follow me" The young man could not walk away from his riches on earth, and Jesus watched the man sadly walk away.

"How hard it is for the rich to enter God's kingdom. It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter His kingdom." That brings up a very good question: Will the rich ever see heaven? Based on what Jesus said about the camel and the needle, I would say it is impossible. But he also said, "What is impossible with man, is possible with God" ...Something to really think about.

All About Jesus Christ
Store Your Riches In Heaven

Are you rich? Worried about whether or not you will enter God's kingdom? I will tell you this; Whether rich or poor, you can store your riches in heaven, where they will not be ruined or stolen. They will be with you forever where your heart is. If you find this hard to do, consider this: Jesus says "don't worry about yourself. Life is more than food and clothing.Ravens don't plant or harvest, and they don't have barns or a place to store their food, but god takes care of them. Do you think god cares about you more than ravens? I do. Should you worry about yourself? Will worry make you live longer?

A relationship with God is about trust. If you trust him and do as he tells you, he will care for you, and your riches will be stored forever in his kingdom where you will spend your eternity.

All About Jesus Christ
Feeding 5,000 with almost no food

At this point in Jesus' ministries, he had a very large amount of followers. He was teaching to a crowd of more than 5,000, and they continued to stay after dusk to hear the teacher. Peter asked Jesus to send the crowd back to the village for food and shelter. with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, Jesus sat the crowd down in groups of 50. He prayed to God, and asked him to provide. Jesus and the disciples then fed the crowd of more than 5,000 with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. After the meal the disciples walked around and collected 12 full baskets of leftovers.

Although I believe this story with my whole heart, it is very hard to understand. I guess there is the possibility of the food becoming 1,000 times the size, or the food becoming more filling. I guess this is where you have to use your imagination.

All About Jesus Christ
Foretelling His Own Death

Some time after this the disciples walked in on Jesus when he was praying alone. This is when he tells them he will be tortured and killed by the nations great leaders and chief priests. But 3 days later he would rise again. He then told them this: "Anyone who plows, but keeps looking back is worthless to God's kingdom." If you want to follow Jesus, you must forget about yourself. If you give your life to Jesus, you are saved. But if you try to save your life all by yourself, you will destroy it. You could own the whole world, but if you destroy yourself, what have you gained?

All About Jesus Christ
Moses And Elijah

Jesus took his disciples to Mount Herman. He chose 3 disciples to climb and pray with him; Peter, James, and John. While praying, his clothes became dazzling white and his face shined like the sun. Moses and Elijah appeared and were talking with him. Peter recognized the significance of such an event, and suggested building 3 tabernacles; one for Jesus, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. Then a huge cloud filled with light covered the mountain. The disciples became frightened. Then God spoke from the cloud, saying "This is my son whom I have chosen. Listen to him."

All About Jesus Christ
The Blind Man

Jesus and his followers approached a city and found a blind man along side of the road. The man begged Jesus to come to him. He told Jesus he wanted his sight restored. Jesus told him to open his eyes, his faith has healed him. The man was filled with joy.

All About Jesus Christ
How to Pray

The disciples approached Jesus with a very important request. They asked him to teach them how to pray. He then taught them the Our Father Prayer. Jesus then told them "Ask, and you will receive. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened.

The disciples didn't understand, and asked him to explain. "Would you give your child a snake if they asked for a fish? Would you give your child a scorpion if they asked for an egg? See, even you know how to give good gifts. Your father in heaven is prepared to give you the holy spirit if you are ready to ask.

All About Jesus Christ
Who Is Your Neighbor?

Jesus was tested by a Jewish legal expert about God's law. "What should we do to have eternal life?" the man asked him. Jesus told the man to follow scripture and he will have eternal life. "Who is my neighbor?" Jesus told the following parable: A Man traveling to Jericho from Jerusalem was robbed and beaten. He was left there on the path. A priest passed him, but did not stop to help him. Later he was passed by two other men, who also did not stop to help him. Then a Samaritan, who happened to be traveling the path stopped to care for him. He took the man to an inn and asked the inn keeper to care for him. The Samaritan gave the inn keeper money to care for the man, and said he would return to cover any other expenses. "Who was the good neighbor?" Jesus asked the man.

All About Jesus Christ
Zaccius

Jesus and his followers came to Jericho while celebrating passover. During one of his teachings, a man named Zaccius was very eager to meet Jesus. But Zaccius was a short man, and had to climb a tree just to see the teacher. After Jesus was done teaching the crowd, he walked under the tree, and told Zaccius he was coming over to his house. While talking with Jesus, Zaccius told him that he was going to give away half his possessions to the poor and pay back 4 times as much money to the people he cheated as a tax collector. Jesus told him that because of his faith, he was now saved.

All About Jesus Christ
Bible Prophecies

Traveling back to Jerusalem from Jericho, Jesus stopped at a town called Beth page. He told a group of people traveling with him to go into the town. There, they would find a donkey tied up, that had never been ridden. "Bring it here. If anyone asks, tell them the lord needs it." Jesus then rode the donkey to Jerusalem. People threw down their robes for their king, Jesus Christ. This fulfilled the prophecy of Zackariah, which was written 500 years before.

Religious leaders became increasingly concerned as the crowd went wild for him. (Remember, they don't necessarily believe Jesus is the messiah.) Jesus looked out over the city of peace. "Jerusalem, Peace was within your reach, but you turned it down. The time will come when your enemies will surround you from every side and attack you. You will be completely destroyed because you didn't see that God came to save you." What's going on in the Middle East right now?

All About Jesus Christ
Judas betrays Jesus

Many leaders plotted ways to trick Jesus. A Roman guard asked Jesus if the Romans should pay taxes. "Let me see a coin" Jesus said. "Who is on this coin?" he asked the crowd. They told him Caesar is on the coin. "Then give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."

All About Jesus Christ
The Last Supper

Jesus and his 12 disciples gathered together in a house to celebrate Passover. They ate a meal we refer to as The Last Supper. This was the last meal Jesus ate with all of his disciples. His words during this meal shocked his disciples.

All About Jesus Christ
Jesus Arrested

Jesus left Jerusalem and went to the Mount of Olives with his disciples. He asked them to pray they won't fall into temptation. Then he stepped aside and went alone to pray. He asked to have God's will done, and not his own, as he knew his death was drawing closer. During this prayer, Jesus broke into a sweat and became very weakened. An angel came from heaven to strengthen him. When he came back to his disciples, he found them sleeping. "Why are you sleeping? Pray you don't fall into temptation."

Then all of a sudden, an group of guards and priests led by Judus marched up to Jesus to arrest him. "Are you betraying me Judus?" Jesus asked. Then the disciples swung their swords at the army of guards and priests. Jesus healed one of the guards ears that had been cut off. "Did you have to come with swords and clubs? I was with you everyday in the temple and you didn't arrest me, but this is your hour, and darkness reigns."

All About Jesus Christ
Jesus On Trial & Peter's Denial

The trial of Jesus Christ was in the hands of 3 different men. Jesus was brought before the high priest and was left in the courtyard. During this time, Peter (who had followed at a distance), was recognized by a bystander. He claimed he didn't even know Jesus (probably fearing for his life). While waiting to see the outcome of his trial, he was recognized once again, and claimed he didn't know Jesus. Then for the last time, he was recognized by somebody, and denied ever being one of Jesus' disciples. At this point, he remembered the prediction Jesus had told him hours before. "You will deny three times that you even know me before the next rooster crows."

All About Jesus Christ
The Death Of Jesus

Although Jesus was not found guilty of a crime three different times, when he was sent back to Pilate, he was faced with an angry crowd that wanted nothing more than to see him dead. Some of his followers were present, but their voice was lost in the crowd. Pilate told the crowd his "crime" was not punishable by death, and he would be punished, then released. Jesus was whipped very badly, but even this did not satisfy the crowd. Pilate did not want the blood of Jesus to be on his hands, so he let the crowd decide whether or not to put Jesus to death. So Jesus was sentenced to death by crucifiction on a cross. Nails were driven through his hands and feet. I will never forget his final words...

All About Jesus Christ
His Burial

After the death of Jesus, a man named Joseph asked Pilate for his body to provide a proper burial. He wrapped the remains of Jesus in linen and placed him in a tomb. Joseph and his helpers sealed the door with a heavy boulder. As they walked away, they saw a group of women following the body of their lord.

At this point, the location of his body was confirmed by the women and they left to prepare spices to place on his body (a tradition carried out on the third day after death).

All About Jesus Christ
Ressurection

Three days after his death, the women returned. But when they got there, the heavy boulder was moved. Jesus was resurrected from death, and appeared in Jerusalem. He ate a meal with his 11 remaining disciples, and told them to preach to all nations, starting in Jerusalem.

All About Jesus Christ
Ascension Into Heaven

Jesus appeared to many other people and continued teaching. 40 days after his resurrection, he lead his followers to a garden on the Mount of Olives near Bethany. "I will be with you always, even until the end of the world." Then he ascended into heaven.
